چکیده

A revised sample of the 2 cm Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) survey is studied to test the isotropic distribution of radio sources on the sky and their uniform distribution in space. The revised sample is complete to flux-density limits of 1.5 Jy for positive declinations and 2 Jy for 0 > δ > −20. At present the active galactic nuclei sample comprises 122 members. Application of the two-dimensional Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test shows that there is no significant deviation from the homogenous distribution in the sky, while the V/Vmax test shows that the space distribution of active nuclei is not uniform at high confidence level (99.9%). This is indicative of a strong luminosity and/or density evolution implying that active nuclei (or jet activity phenomena) were more populous at high redshifts, z ∼ 2.

15 GHz Monitoring of Gamma-ray Blazars with the OVRO 40 Meter Telescope in Support of Fermi

Since mid-2007, we have been monitoring 1200 sources at 15 GHz with the 40 M Telescope at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory. Our ∼ sample, mostly blazars, is monitored at least twice per week, yielding densely-sampled light curves. A large fraction of the sources in our sample exhibit significant variation in 15 GHz flux density, enabling variability studies and crosscorrelations with other ba...

Observations of the bright radio sources in the North Celestial Pole region at the RATAN-600 radio telescope

Abstract. A survey of the North Celestial Pole region using the RATAN-600 radio telescope at five frequencies in the range 2.3 to 21.7 GHz is described. Sources were chosen from the NVSS catalogue. The flux densities of 171 sources in the Declination range +75◦ to +88◦ are presented; typical flux density errors are 5-10 percent including calibration errors. About 20 percent of the sources have ...

AND ASTROPHYSICS High Frequency Peakers : I . The Bright Sample

Here we present a sample of sources with convex radio spectra peaking at frequencies above a few GHz. We call these radio sources High Frequency Peakers (HFPs). This sample extends to higher turnover frequencies than the samples of Compact Steep Spectrum (CSS) and GHz Peaked Spectrum (GPS) radio sources. HFPs are rare due to the strong bias against them caused by their turnover occurring at fre...

Testing models of radio source space density evolution with the SUMSS survey

We present the population data as predicted by our space density analysis at the SUMSS frequency of 843 MHz. This data demonstrates the potential of the SUMSS survey to trace in detail the change-over in radio source populations from ‘radio monsters’ at high flux densities to a local starbursting population at the survey limit. The exact form of the observed change-over will be used to refine o...

Absence of "ghost images" excludes large values of the cosmological constant

We used the 1.4 GHz NRAO2 NVSS survey to search for ““ ghost ÏÏ images of radio sources, expected in cosmologies with a positive cosmological constant and positive space curvature. No statistically signiÐcant evidence for ““ ghost ÏÏ images was found, placing constraints on the values of ", the space curvature or the duration of the radio-luminous phase of extragalactic radio sources. Subject h...
